Whilst walking around in Yokohama, Kenshin, Sanosuke, Kaoru and Yahiko witnesses a confrontation between some drunken western sailors and a Japanese woman. An armed samurai steps in to protect the woman and a small riot breaks out with the samurai winning. The woman is actually the sister of a person Kenshin had killed during the Bakumatsu. The samurai, who introduces himself as Takimi Shigure, is her fiance and, unknown to Kenshin, is trying to start a new revolution to overthrow the Meiji government.
