DUH it was planned, you could totally tell in the last episode already. They would NOT let Winry go just like that and Scar wouldn’t do that either. They needed to get rid of Winry for awhile so they could do what they wanted without restrictions. They know that Scar won’t hurt Winry and with what Scar did to her parents, it maked all the act more believable.
