Anyone notice that ichigo never seems to be as fast in his bankai form as he was the first time he entered it? Like i feel as though he should have been able to get through that hole in the fire wall before it closed the first time. And its not even just speed but also the area he’s supposed to be able to cover with his shunpo

Demon, that’s a good theory. It also explains why Byakuya’s motivation is “pride”, though I’m still not so sure why he’s willing to side with the BBEG in order to beat him. Maybe he thinks releasing Kouga will finally give him an opportunity to end his family’s shame and kill the SOB once and for all.

On the other hand, he could just be acting f*cking sketchy again, like when he tried to kill Rukia. Seriously, Byakuya’s got a history of choosing the wrong side for stupid reasons (doesn’t make him any less awesome though).

In the brief images of Kouga, it looked like he was wearing the SAME kind of scarf as BYAKUYA KUCHKI. I’m thinking the reason for Byakuya’s betrayal will be revealed in that HE wants to stop Kouga because Kouga was a former KUCHKI clan member. Byakuya’s “pride” could have something to do with defending his family’s honor…
